A 5-session module that gives students a framework for investigating the root causes of what they're feeling — and designing one real change. You facilitate. They do the work.
Why this works in a district.
The framework is external and established — you're not delivering invented content, you're facilitating the Solutionary process developed by the Institute for Humane Education.
Students do the work. You're a guide, not an unlicensed instructor. No clinical training required.
Politically neutral. The process asks students to investigate causes and design solutions — it doesn't prescribe answers.
This is a skills and awareness course, not treatment. Students who need clinical support are connected to school counseling.
The Pilot Module

Students list what they actually feel: tired, foggy, restless, flat, behind. No diagnostic labels allowed this session. Just symptoms.

Follow It Upstream
45 min
Small groups pick one symptom and trace causes: sleep, scroll time, no free time, comparison, lost COVID years, nowhere to go. Students track their own screen data for one week as evidence.
"This was built, not born. It isn't a personal failure."
Who Else

Map who's affected and who benefits — including the platforms. Interview one adult and one younger kid about the same problem.

Design It

Each group proposes one change their school could actually make. Required step: name two possible unintended consequences and adjust.

Run It
45 min
Pitch to a principal, counselor, or student council. Pick one to pilot. Set a check-back date to evaluate what worked.
